“Where Millennials Come From And Why We Insist On Blaming Them For It” Analysis
Issue and Conclusion
The primary issue in Tolentino’s article is that the young generation here referred as “Millennials” are victims of circumstances that are created by the available structures and systems. The issue is: Are the Millennials really to blame for killing everything? He concludes this by providing two examples that demonstrate that the Millennials need not to be blamed. He provides an example (The Communist Manifesto of Sasse) of how a book aimed at guiding the millennials can mislead them as well. He concludes by saying that “It seems more likely that a young person who opened the communist manifesto tomorrow would underline the part about personal worth being reduced to exchange value and go off to join the Democratic Socialists of America, which has grown fivefold in the last year.” The idea that Tolentino wants the us to accept is that the young generation is being blamed for nothing and the reasons why they exist need to be addressed.
