1. How did Chinese culture change after the end of the Mao's death? What new principles were promulgated after the Third Plenum in 1978?
There was the reintroduction of past practices political and literary actors. There were two critical principles promulgated at the third plenum. These were aimed at regulating political conduct and encourage writers to become more daring. The first one was seek truth from facts, and the second practice is the sole criterion of truth. (p333)

Among the campaigns launched at the third plenum were to right the wrongs of intellectuals, bureaucrats, and politicians who had been condemned since 1957, rehabilitate them, and restore them to their former posts.
