Three traits that I consider heroic are being ambitious, having selflessness (put others before yourself) and being open minded. I chose my grandma, Mimi, not only because she show the qualities of a hero, but the qualities of an amazing grandmother.

Mimi was born few years after the war. Her present circumstances could not allow her to study beyond high school level, for she was born in poverty. Her parents tried to make ends meet by working in the plantation. Their hard work could barely pay for bills. When they suggested she gets married off at a young age, it was not a surprise. Her love for books opened her eyes to the possibilities in the world beyond her native home. Her ambition for a better lifestyle enabled her to run away at a tender age to America, the land of opportunity.
Seeing her advanced age, she did not give up. (Core 4) She worked her way into college, did her masters and PH.D in literature with the meagre salary of a babysitter. Her ambition knew no boundaries as her present circumstances did not mar the future she sought. She instilled the same ambition to her daughter and her granddaughter. She has kept her spirits up and enabled everyone to esteem himself or herself high beyond individual potentials....
