The story is about four sailors, the oiler, the captain, the cook, and the correspondents who are on a small open boat that is floating against the waves of the sea. At the start of the story, it is a broad daylight where the oiler and the correspondents are taking turns pushing the oars one at a time. The captain is sitting on the front of the boat and he is commanding others on the directions to take the boat. After a moment the captain notices a land but from a distance it looks like a patch of the pin. He encourages his companions that they will reach the shore if they work hard peddling as the wind waves will favor them. They peddled the boat and they started seeing the land getting bigger and they began seeing trees and buildings which encouraged them to peddle faster to reach the shore. However, when they were few miles from the land the sea became rougher and the boat could hardly move they felt they would sink. When they saw a group of people and one man waving at them from the seashore, they had hope that they will get help. However, the people at the sore could not help them. They spent the night in the boat trying to reach the land. In the morning they could see the whole village and when the sea became rougher they had to jump to the sea and swim.
