According to Dr. James Kustow, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a mental disorder characterized by inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. It affects person’s social behavior and academic performance which affect the level of self-esteem. It is a genetic and neurodevelopmental disorder. It affects both genders and persists throughout lifespan. It managed using pharmacotherapy and behavioral therapy (Robinsonpara, 3). The condition can clinically be assessed, but misdiagnosis may occur.
This assignment aims at discussing how online tests can be used to effectively diagnose attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It involves the use of electronic gadget to diagnose the condition in hospitals.
The use of continuous performance tests such as Qb Test to perform mental status test is an online method. The kit contains a checklist to diagnose the conditions, a self-rating symptom check and an explanatory video (Robinsonpara, 14).It involves maintaining attention on an exercise assigned on a computer to determine attention and impulsivity. A high attention level means you are focus on the task while poor score means high level of impulsivity. This test gauges individual’s ability to maintain selective attention without interruptions (Robinsonpara, 4).
