Oedipus Tyrannus by Sophicles
Aristotle views the attributes of a tragic hero as an individual superior to anything we are and a man who is perceived as better than the ordinary individuals. In regards to Oedipus’s case, he is unequaled by his social status and the fact that he is smart since he was perceived as the only individual who could solve the Sphinx’s riddle. Rather than put his dependence on the divine beings, Oedipus puts his reliance on his intuitions with the aim of finding reality. Meanwhile, as a tragic hero, he is believed to have the capacity to bring out the element of pity and dreadfulness, with this asserting that an ideal approach to achieve these remains in being blemished. An individual characterized by a blend of both right and wrong remains more convincing than a character that only shows greatness. Moreover, Oedipus lacks the tenets of perfection in spite the fact that he is an excellent individual who is open to reality and declines to trust the warnings of Tiresias. On the other hand, in as much as Oedipus was a father, the only difference remains in the fact that he fathered his children in incest.
