Mandatory Introduction, Community College, Accounting (Essay Sample)
Please write an essay introducing yourself to the class of no fewer than 500 words. You may write more if you wish. You MUST include a word count at the end of your essay.
Discuss where you are from ( vietnam), your education so far(I'm studying in Houston Community College, my major is Accounting), your plans for further education( I'll transfer to UH next year), your career goals ( get bachelor's degree ), your level of interest in government and politics ( not interested at all), your general history of involvement in politics and government, how you think government and politics affect your life, and your party affiliation (if any).
Tell us who your most admired public figure is and why (contemporary or historical). Also, would be your least favorite public figure and why (also contemporary or historical). It need not be a political or governmental person but it must be a public figure (not your grandmother or third-grade teacher).
Lastly, discuss what one or two public policy issue is most important to you. (For example, the upcoming special session of the Texas Legislature, guns becoming legal on community college campuses this fall, the Texas or U.S. economy or climate change, or the environment, or racism, President Trump's wall along the border with Mexico, the effect of his immigration policies on Texas, the Russian hacking of the election, crime, abortion, education policy, immigration policy, etc.)
I am happy to be part this university, I am from Vietnam, and I am currently studying at Huston Community College majoring in Accounting. I am planning to transfer to the University of Huston to acquire my bachelor's degree. My career goal is to attain my bachelor degree in accounting. Even though I am not interested in politics and government activities, I do participate in the voting process because I know that government and politics affect our daily lives.
It is everyone's responsibility to elect their representatives who make decisions about law and regulations that affect our daily lives. Electing good leaders means having sound government policies to improve the lives of its citizens. I am not affiliated with any political party, but I do believe that the government has the obligation to provide its citizens with basic services like affordable health care services, education, shelter, and livelihoods.
