How to Make My Community a Better Place
Waste disposal or garbage is a problem experienced across cities, states and countries. Despite several initiatives to curb improper waste disposal, unmanaged dumpsites and litter roam in American cities. Apart from domestic waste, industries contribute to hazardous waste. For instance, America generated trash of over 254 million tons in 2013 and recycled about 87 million only. The remaining waste goes back to communities due to lack of recycling and compositing CITATION USE16 \l 1033 (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency). Recent statistics on solid waste and landfill indicate that on average America throws approximately 1,200 pounds of waste. This is organic garbage which is never composted. The statistics indicate that U.S stands as the number one country in trash production. My community represents the state of the U.S on garbage matters.
