According to Kris Allen most of the time we get to know the importance of what we had once we have lost it. In this reference he has mainly dealt with on the value of time and how everyone should use it wisely. At the beginning of the song he started on a negative note with a question on "Sometimes we fall down, can`t get back up" with an aim of challenging those who are listening the song that they have the capability getting out of what we thing is tough. Kris also has depicted on how human heart is eager to get more though it`s not forthcoming. However, we mostly forget that the best thing to get what we want is by doing what is we can today with what we have.
