First of all, the article is quite interesting and the story captivating. In its simplicity, the article manages to keep readers engaged and entertained throughout the article. The suspense and the drama as elucidated by the author keeps one on edge and waiting for what will happen next. In some instances, the author did lose me as he kept going back and forth and introducing new characters and stories within the main story. However, the general view was that the article was interesting.
When it comes to the theme or thesis or purpose of the article, one could cite several. However, the main purpose or theme of the article was revealing the plight of women in ancient Greece and their quest to exercise some autonomy. Back then, women had no voice, and they were considered the weaker sex. Their rights were limited, and aside from being housekeepers, they were not considered useful or of any value. The author is keen to subtly and indirectly drive this theme and keep readers glued and focused on this particular theme. Women used different ways to try and express their discontent with the status quo, but as it was always the case, the men always frustrated their agenda.
