Internship Coworkers: The Needs And Expectations Of Other Generations
Using the materials I've provided, I'd like you to take a close look at your coworkers in the internship (and other jobs you may have) from the context of generational differences. Here are some questions you may wish to address:
1. Overall, does the Generational Differences Chart seem accurate?
2. Do the descriptions for the generations explain the attitudes and behaviours of people you know from that generation?
3. How can or do you plan to adjust your own behaviour to meet the needs and expectations of other generations? (i.e., work more effectively with them)
4. Use specific examples from your own intern/work experiences with people from prior generations to illustrate your contentions.
Additional questions you may wish to address:
5. Have you observed conflicts in the workplace due to conflicting generational perspectives? Which generations?
6. Do you fit the GenY characteristics or do you (or others) see that you possess characteristics more closely associated with a prior generation? If so, which one and why.
Then, write a cogent response of several paragraphs where you discuss using generational information as a means to understand your coworkers.
