Does the film Lore effectively represent Nazi ideas about the ‘Volkskorper?’
The German nationalism (Volkskorper), according to the Nazi worldview (Weltanschauung) has been observed in some areas, but majorly on the politics of its modern age. As depicted in the film of Lore, most of the Nazi’s ideas have been effectively presented, for instance, on the phenomenon of the German Volkskorper in the Nazi Weltanschauung. The second part of the views of the Nazi ideas is on the history of the Volkskorper in phenomenological terms and thirdly is on the view of the Volkskorper on the Jewish body, as a foreign body.
The ‘biological body of the German nation’ and the ‘collective body’ of the national population are some of the primary Volkskorper interpretations (Kastelec, Jernej, and David, 237). However, the scholarly view on the phenomenon of the Volkskorper is that of a ‘nation’, the ‘people’,’ society’, or ‘the state’. On the other hand, the Nazi’s view is that the Volkskorper is a ‘medical metaphor’ that they applied to the German society.
