Hello mom, I am really impressed by the story which you penned, “I Stand Here Ironing” which is concerning our family and the problems we went through. What I can comment is that overall; you have done a commendable job in this story. I love how your depiction of me, and you is in this piece of story. I am in agreement with you concerning the Yellow paper where you say that if men were willing to listen to your ideas, then you could have avoided insanity (Olsen, 1961, 35). Imagining what you really went through for close to three months in that bedroom. Your depiction in this story of a close bond between you and me is particularly true. This is because, irrespective of what we went through as a family, I still adored and respected you as my mother. There is no time, that I failed to respect you or underrated you in any situation, and I am sure that you can take me as an obedient daughter. Your flashbacks on our life and living condition are very valuable to the story. These have helped a lot in making the audience get a better understanding of what we really went through.
Mom, I love your focus of my history in this story. This shows that you love me and you are interested in my welfare. This story has made me have a clear understanding on how you take me as your daughter. I am proud that you as my mother, you have shown your true unconditional love. You have reminded me of the anger, grief, and sadness that you and I went through at one time in our lives. I cannot be wrong to describe you as one of the best mothers in the world today. This is because, despite all the hurdles we had to go through, you still strived to provide the best care and love for your daughter. The flashback has provided a personal perspective on what occurred in this family. You have gone on to depict the closer bond between you and me by explaining your despair, and anger when I went to asylum and when I went to see my father’s family.
My decision to venture into comedy seems to have overjoyed you, mother. This is because in this story, you have depicted the excitement and joy during this time. I am sure that had I not ventured into comedy, the whole story would have been different. There is only one element, which I am not happy about. This factor is that you had not sought my perspective, to incorporate it in this story.
