On pages 88 and 89 of the book We the Animals by Justin Torres, the main message the author is trying to pass across to the reader is the mischievousness of young boys and how children can at times be badly behaved. The narrative on pages 88 and 89 involves three boys – Manny, Joel and the narrator – who hit the glass of Grices’ house with a ball and then with a rock just for fun and to cause disturbance and damage at Grices’ family, and then flee and hide. It is written from the narrator’s perspective and this incidence is occurring in a chilly night. At first, they hit the glass with a ball and hide in the woods. Torres (88) stated that “the ball bump against the glass and then moved back towards where we crouched at the periphery of the woods.”
