Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone One of the major characters in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is Hermione Granger. She becomes friends with Ron and Harry and plays an important role in the plan to save the sorcerer’s stone from the villain, Voldemort. She tries to keep Harry in check to ensure he does not ruin their chances of winning. Hermione’s intelligence is revealed in her witch skills throughout the book. During her first encounter with Harry and Ron, she says that even though she doesn’t come from a family of magic, she has tried a few spells which have all worked (Rowling, 84). She was also the first person in their transfiguration class to excel. It is noted that when the lesson ends, “only Hermione Granger had made a difference to her match; Professor McGonagall showed the class how it had gone all silver and pointy and gave Hermione a rare smile” (Rowling, 107). Hermione was also able to discover that the dog they saw locked up in the forbidden corridor was guarding something, because it was standing on a trap door and she was the only person who ma...
