Science-fiction/fantasy (SFF) and literary fiction are both genres which help sharpen children’s imagination as well as develop their emotional maturity. Reading literature also helps teach children compassion and empathy by allowing them to imagine life from another perspective.
How do contemporary works of Young Adult and Juvenile fiction (YA) like The Twilight Series, Harry Potter Series or The Hunger Games Series compare with earlier works of fiction in helping children develop their imagination and moral compass? Fiction, Imagination, and the Moral Compass
Just like any other genres of literature, Fiction has changed through time and space. From once being dominated by themes like the mystique, fiction has become one of the most diverse genres that we have today. Accordingly, this change has also led to a change in the people’s morals and imagination. Nevertheless, the author believes that these changes are affected by the very changes that are happening in the society at large.
One of the major changes that happened in the fictional genre, is an increase in the heterogeneity of plots.
