His work in the play Romeo and Juliet is one of his greatest works. It is a story about two lovers whose families are bitter enemies. A series of conspiracies and counter conspiracies results in a tragic end for the two. In the play Romeo and Juliet, fate plays a very crucial role through its entirety. Not only does it bring various characters together ,but also plays a role in the deaths of some, including the main characters, Romeo and Juliet. The two lovebirds are so much in love with each other, “…Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, / And I'll no longer be a Capulet…"(Act 2, Scene 2, Line 33-6.). They clearly try to assure each other that their names should not in any way affect their love for each other. However, as fate would have it, their names became their biggest downfall. At the start of the play, in the prologue, it is indeed very clear that the two lovers are bound to take their lives.
