Introduction
The presentation of the theme of fate and free will has clearly been expressed in both the tale of Oedipus Rex and Note from Underground. Characters in these tales get themselves into life experiences which result from fate and free will of nature. Throughout the novel, both Oedipus and the Underground Man develop the theme of suffering, which occurs due to their action, which happens without their attention. In the tale of Oedipus Rex, the fate and suffering develop throughout the play due to the prophecy which led to his destruction. In fulfillment of the prophesy, Oedipus killed his father without knowing, a situation that led to his guilty.
