Fashion is not static; it keeps on changing from one period to another in accordance to the user’s tastes and preference. Constantly we are bombarded with new ideas of fashion from videos, television, music and books. We cannot afford to keep up with the same trends as year’s progress; therefore change is necessary in every generation.
Fashion is currently the commonest mode of expression: it depicts the constant change of clothe styles worn by people with cultural status (Pendergast 26). It is something we deal with on a day-to-day basis. When other people emulate these clothing styles then a fashion trend occurs. Fashions differ within a society over a given period of time but it is largely influenced by occupation, sexual orientation, age, social class, religion and location. Fashion trends today evolve from fashion designers who create a spring and fall wardrobe collection in relation to life’s inspiration and cues gathered over the season. Cues can constitute nature, celebrities, music, and popular culture. During runway shows, fashion designers take the initiatives to showcase their designs to potential buyers, celebrities, and photographers. Fashion and photo features produced by photographers and writers play an influential role to the mass population that determines the purchasing power of a given clothe line.
Some designers emulate fashion designers as a way of creating affordable designs for the users. This trend follows suit in shopping centers, malls and boutiques around the region. Some begin in one country and later on to other countries while others remain intact to a certain region.
