In the modern world the question about money, material possession courage and statuses have been correlated with success and “good life.” Many studies have examined the correlation between, money, courage, and social status and “success.” On the other hand, psychologists do not agree on an ultimate meaning of “successful life.” While some consider “good life” as happiness in life and self-satisfaction, others define “good life” as a combination of pleasure, self-satisfaction, and financial power. In the same way, success can be defined in several contexts making it very relative term. However, when all these factors are singularly examined, their individual relationships with success and good life comes out so clearly.
Indeed, just like courage, status, material possession, money will determine the kinds of services one receives – ranging from the schools you and your children attend, health care services received, the kind of house and neighborhood you live in the types of foods you can afford. Similarly, money determines your social status in the society, which subsequently directly influences the kind of human exposure we get in life. It is undeniable that money and material possessions influence our how we think and behave. The interplay of life's activities and money is cyclic. Thus, money will determine the kind of treatment you get in life. With sufficient money to afford a good school, you get a quality education and exposure – regarded as higher social class exposure. This state subjects us to different thinking levels and life's opportunities.
On the other hand, it is arguable that money does not determine success or an individual's life. Some studies have equally argued that money can not make someone happy, and in the wider context, happiness constitute happiness. Anderson Cameron – a professor at the University of California, Berkeley says that to be respected and have influence, and be socially integrated never gets old. This, however, is supported by fewer cases as we see the gap between the wealthy and the have-nots steadily widening. The increasing gap explains how money and life's success interplay. Dr. Seuss, in his book, - 'Oh the places you'll go,' writes, “will you succeed? Yes, you will, Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed.” There are few cases where individual's from poor background have achieved through constant hard work trumping down on the challenges life serves them. In the same book, he tends to believe that every individual is capable of succeeding and can move mountain (Mattingly, 2014).
