Purchasing a private means of transport is important especially for students and business people. First, it is expensive to lease a car for use on a daily basis, particularly in places where other means of transportation are not available. Secondly, it is inconvenient to rely on public vehicles in emergency situations. Thirdly, catching a public vehicle cannot exactly meet ones academic timetable. Therefore, buying a private car to commute from home to school is a wise decision to me. This assignment aims at analyzing buying a brand new Toyota Prius car, purchasing a second hand vehicle and leasing to determine the most reasonable option.
Buying a Brand New Vehicle
Toyota car dealers offer a newly manufactured car with an inclusive guarantee. The vehicles also come with the current trending feature. In addition, they are in good conditions since they lack prior mechanical problems. However, very few people purchase new cars for family use in the United States (Zhechev and Stanimirov 114).
New automobiles are sold at exorbitantly high prices. These buying costs are beyond the financial muscles of many parents whose budget is strained. People opt to choose an alternative means to acquire used cars which will provide the same service as the new one. This explains why very few people own newly manufactured vehicles in the society (Zhechev and Stanimirov 115).
Also, a firsthand Toyota Prius car depreciates rapidly after purchasing. The rate of devaluation is more than 15% immediately after purchasing. The friction due to mechanical movement of the vehicle decreases the value of the car very fast (Radley 82).
Moreover, a new car is subject to high registration fees and sales duty charged by the government. The inclusion of these fees raises the buying price making such vehicles unaffordable to many parents. They therefore choose to have a used car whose price is reasonable without compromising the safety requirements (Radley 83).
Leasing a Car
Many car sellers require people to make an initial imbursement and periodic payments when leasing a car. In this instance, the user possesses the car, and the dealer can repossess it upon expiry of the leasing period. The dealer gives the user two options after leasing term is over. One can either renew the lease or buy the car as a used vehicle. It is therefore difficult to contract with meager credit facilities. The financial institutions do not have plasticity since leasing lacks a yearly proportion rate (Sultan 14).
The user is also restricted by the owner on the annual distance is supposed to cover. One is surcharged for violating the terms and agreement, thus limiting the freedom of the buyer driving the car. Consequently, leasing a Toyota Prius car will not fully solve the inconveniences experience by a student. The student will only be limited to driving from home to the college and back, thus forced sometimes to use public means of transport to avoid breaking the dealer’s agreements (Sultan 15).
