Values of Newsworthy Content
Stories have certain qualities that make the content given news. If the information given deviates from the anticipated characteristics, the report provided lack worthiness. In most cases, such cases get termed as ordinary stories and not news because they lack the elements of high-grade communication. This paper discusses the worthiness of two articles from the New York Times and the features elevating the information presented in the articles to the level of becoming news.
The first article represents the Biden presidential campaign team writing a letter on the Facebook social media platform complaining about the reflection of false information. The report accused the president of blackmailing Ukrainian representatives into dismissing an investigation on his son (Kang and Isaac). The info had impacted the voters, the reporters' target population. The shock hitting the citizens defined the high credibility of the news given by the article. A worthy piece should pose real guts that affect the community reading the article and also trigger some consequences upon reading (Zajechowski). The report picked concern and attention from the public at large. Regardless of the posting period of the information on Facebook, the news came with the aspect of timelessness as the group posting made the information look current.
The team made significant highlights about the conservative nature of Biden. The information portrayed looked relevant to the public as they realized the kind of president Mr. Biden would become. Although the investigation occurred in the past, the campaigning team reflected on a current topic in the report. In this case, the reporters represented the most significant issue on the subject by emphasizing the present parts of the item. Also, the prominence of reporters affected the quality of the news provided. The news representative reporting the issue could reach to get the information and explain the creation made on the platform. The origin acknowledged their credibility in the field, enhancing the worthiness of any news provided. The reporter portrayed total authority on the piece quoted to strengthen the provision of newsworthiness by proving that adequate knowledge of the information.
The news targeted a wide range of population, and posting the information on Facebook proved worthiness as the targeted population could access the report comfortably. Proximity in the quality of information demands delivery to the right demographic (Zajechowski). The auditor of the article limited the information to the audience of political supporters, and the individuals responded appropriately to the topic discussed. This quality led to pitching on the right audience, enhancing the worthiness of the news reported on the platform. Besides, the New York Times publishers conflicted and stated that political speech should remain upon any media channel because the stories are newsworthy.
