Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences urges us to identify or recognize our inner abilities using a number of IQ tests. He suggests that people have up to eight types of intelligence, and variations do exist based on their strengths and weaknesses. Howard’s approach to cognitive assessment is different from what is typically employed with psychological testing (Peckham & Bartley 313). Robert Sternberg's analysis of intelligence is similar to that of Gardner’s point of view as both of them reject the idea of a single type of intelligence. Robert thinks that there are three main types of intelligence: practical, creative and analytical.
