Life is not a straight road and challenges are part of what makes life interesting. Ever since my childhood years, I struggled with health problems. I was a sickly child and my life often revolved between home and hospital. On many occasions, I even had to stay away from school because of my poor health and this was quite a big challenge since it meant i could not learn at the same pace as my age-mates. To make matters worse I was advised by the doctor against participating in any activities that required a lot of energy especially sporting activities. Even though this was said in good faith and to my own benefit, the experience really affected my life. For one I lost confidence in myself since I felt I could not accomplish anything due to my poor health status. Somehow, the idea got to my mind that I could never be the best and unfortunately, I had this notion for a very long time. In addition, my health challenge meant that I could not make and maintain stable friendships. This situation was supported by the fact that most of my classmates and friends loved participating in sporting activities, which I had been warned against taking part in.
Apart from affecting my confidence and making me lose my friends, the health challenge also instilled great fear in me. I knew that the only way I could make something out of myself was by concentrating on my studies. I could not do ...
