Introduction
Heroes are known for the possession of qualities that people strive to achieve over a lifetime. However, the aspect of real heroism is perceived as un-dramatic and sober, thus encouraging the adoption of qualities and attributes that urge others to follow in a leader’s footsteps. By humbly serving others, heroes are in a position to impact the lives of several people in their tenacious pursuit for a common ground. In consideration of these aspects, this paper seeks to classify the types of American heroes.
Classification of the Types of American Heroes
In our current dispensation, a lot of opportunities are available to us to find fame and recognition within the society. Unfortunately, the time of heroes may be viewed as a thing of the past. Heroes were known for their capacity to influence the entire country and make populations think about them as heroes in their lives. Outstanding heroes from the past have turned out to be real icons of many people today. These outstanding personalities clearly showed articulate patterns of personality traits and behaviors which influenced masses to follow in their footsteps. In our epoch, it’s hard to find heroes like those who had stronger characters in the past. The likes of Abraham Lincoln, Luther King, Michael Jackson, Madonna among others clearly detail the powers that heroes posed in shaking up the ground in their favor (Hesselbein, pp.6). In as much as these heroes were different, it is essential to consider that they contributed to the culture, history, and social development of America. The ancient heroes in the annals of American history are perceived as those who played a meaningful part in the lives of many Americans. These individuals are considered as ordinary people who found opportunities to make differences in the lives of many such as Harriet Tubman who was a runaway slave who overcame several odds to end slavery. Other exceptional heroes who made a history in America include Rudy Giuliani whose leadership approach during the September 11 tragedy brought worldwide admiration and acclamation.
