CHALLENGES TO U.S URBAN MANAGERS
The status of the United States widespread urbanization has really posed numerous challenges for the managers in charge. Moreover, the impacts of climate change on the environment of the United States and its population has resulted to several issues that have become unbeatable challenges. Numerous minorities and immigrants have rapidly increased the urbanization in the United States, leading to increased poverty in the urban areas. There are three major challenges that are faced by the urban managers of the United States, as well as the possible solutions that can be applied to eradicate them.
Governance has become a great challenge to the urban managers because of a number of issues that take place like; rapid growth (both in population and geographic), funding, development of the infrastructure and expansion of social services, among other challenges. These challenges have been caused by the expansion of the urban centers in the United States as well as the urbanization`s impact on the sustainability of the ecosystem. This has led the managers to a great concern on how to handle the existing troubles resulted to unhealthy states and the potential outcome of the same (Freire, Mila, Belinda & Yuen, 12).
The process of Fringe Areas and Urbanization is an area that poses a great challenge. Probably, the key reason for incorporation inadequacy by the fringe areas into overall planning of the urban areas is the process of urbanization. The pace of urbanization in the United States is so high, which comes along with inability to manage the increasing populations. This makes it hard for the managers to implement new projects on the urban areas, and even makes the existing capacity in planning inadequate because of the increased population. The local governments are finding it hard to keep up with the task accompanied by increased urbanization, as the former status of urbanization was hard to cope with.
