Student’s Name Instructor Course Date ESSAY Naomi Klein argues that climate change has factually changed everything in society today. According to Klein, people need to reconstruct a society that will go against the endless amassing of wealth by the rich capitalists. According to Klein, the society must approach this change with the basis of other principles like regeneration of life. The society can also try to treat other people equality. For example, employers can try to reduce the levels of poverty by creating more job opportunities for men. With this, issues like poverty will be dealt with. Therefore the reversal of the existing social relations must start immediately with the fight on the fossil fuel industry. When there is capitalism in the society then it means that there will be more carbon emissions, inequality in the society, and more alienation of humanity. In a capitalistic society, workers are alienated from humanity because they can only supply their labor to private systems of industrial production. Workers are treated as instruments and not human beings. People can only survive in this kind of system by selling their labor power. The notions of value and molarity are very different from the capitalists. Using Klein as your Textual Evidence, what is the relationship between capitalist notions of value and morality? Capitalism has caused suffering and violence to people across the world. For instance, capitalism ignores externalities like pollution which is capable of harming the lives of people. Additionally, this system tends to under-provide for goods that have positive externalities like education and healthcare. Floods and fires have destroyed the livelihood of people and displacing thousands from their homes. Climate change is a result of capitalism. The "other" human are the neglected populations who are left behind and others are exploited by the capitalists whose aim is to make profits. According to Klein, indiscriminate economic growth encourages competitive consumption and this degrades the environment and causes suffering to people (Klein, 205). Klein also asserts that climate change has created inequality across the world. People now live in places where there is pollution, there are life-threatening weather events and poverty due to inefficient allocation of resources. People have been denied their power in the society. They have been denied the right to make their choices on what suits the environment and the society at large. Capitalists do not respect justice and human rights. Further, Klein defines capitalism as “consumption for the sake of consumption.” Klein also claims that the economy is at war with many forms of life on earth including human life. Climate change has brought fires and floods that have destroyed the livelihood and has displaced a lot of people. Capitalism has destroyed the planet beyond repair. Klein also argues that if people want to achieve peace, then they cannot ignore climate change as well. Consequently "the issue of climate change is addressed in industria...
