* Warranty systems which are placed to determine between conflict and non-conflict diamonds are essential because as consumers purchase “blood diamonds,” many lives are shed to keep the demand. In line with this, I believe that if a person already knows where the diamond comes from, then his/her actions are not different from that of Danny Archer. This is because they chose to do so regardless of the larger repercussions that they already knew would happen beforehand.
* The responsibility of diamond corporations and retailers in order to make sure that conflict diamonds do not go into the market is keep track of all the diamond's origins and its transactions. To do so, they must abide by the policies provided by their state institutions as well as other organizations that are determined towards the cause such as the World Diamond Council. More particularly, as stated in their tenets, the council states that all of the corporations must adhere to “The System of Warranties (SoW) [which] is a voluntary system of industry self-regulation created to support and strengthen the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme” (World Diamond Council).
