Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet are among phenomenal characters in world literature. References are being made to them in the scholarly and social circles, making them among the most recognizable literary characters. The romantic love-story with the greatest drama makes the reader wonder who is to blame for the tragic deaths of Rome and Juliet. Like most of the cases in the society, whenever a person dies in mysterious circumstances, the first person who is questioned is closest to the deceased. This is also the case when it comes to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. It is those closest to them who can be held liable for their deaths (Ramesh, Nidhi). The two main characters in the play that can be blamed for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet are Flair Laurence and the nurse, both of whom were trusted friends.
Friar Laurence was the adviser to Romeo and Juliet and in most of the cases kept the secrets that the couple had. When Romeo and Juliet decided to get married, he was the one who advised them to go ahead. However, this was a misguided advice that ended up complicating the lives of the two lovers and eventually caused their deaths. It would have been important for Friar to advise the couple to wait a lot longer and assess the situation or even abandon the idea altogether. Instead, he was the one who actually married them. In his approach to marry the two, he felt that this would easily end the feud that was between the two families and form a unifying bond. The first red flag in the cause of the deaths of the two is the fact that the marriage took place too fast and without the knowledge of the parents (Ramesh, Nidhi).
