The Simpsons analysis
The textual analysis will be based on the children's animation show known as the Simpsons. The show consists of various characters and among the main ones are Marge, Homer, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set up in a small town known as Springfield. The town is the resemblance of an American suburb. As well, the show has other characters based on the chemical plant such as the owner: Mrs. Burns, Wielder the assistant, Principal Skinner, and the Flanders family. This analysis will be based on the episode whereby the school's groundskeeper discovered oil accidentally while he was in the process of burring a dead rat (Boréus, Kristina, and Göran 2017). As a result, a suggestions meeting is held to come with ways through which the new found wealth could be used in helping the school community. As a result, this brings about the analysis of the show to reveal the various ways through which represents talent growth in schools and the associated challenges.
One of the main ways through which the show represents talent growth is the fact that Lisa Simpson gives the idea of having the implementation of Jazz lessons. As a result, this would help a lot in developing the talents of the students who are interested in Jazz and turn help in their future career. As well, the episode was focused on showing the important of a school getting opinions on how to spend its wealth with the aim of helping the students. Involving the students in the decision-making process is a great way of ensuring the effectiveness and success of the new courses that they planned to implement. Introducing course that the students are not interested in would be a waste of resources because the particular course will not end up helping the students. Hence, it is important to include them in the decision in order to choose what is best for them.
Besides, the show represents some of the challenges that a school can face when spending the extra money to promote talent growth through the introduction of the subject of greed and love for money. This greed is represented by the character "Mr. Burn" who finds a way of installing a pipe from his Slant drilling plant to the elementary school. The acute angle at which this pipe was installed enabled him to steal the schools' wealth. Such greed would, in turn, play a substantial role in the reduction of the cumulative wealth that the school was supposed to make. As a result, this would also reduce the funds set aside for the new courses made to promote the students talents. Therefore, greed and love for money are among the challenges that can make it difficult to fund projects that are helpful to other human beings. Such greed is most evident in institutions.
Besides, talent growth has been represented by the fact that the school committee is willing to hold a suggestions meeting to come up with ideas through which the extra amount of money will be used. Such wealth could have been used for physical development instead of considering the educational needs of the students (Davis, Amy, Jemma, and James 2015). The directors bring out the characters i...
