Positioning the field of Women Studies (WS) and feminist scholarship within a transnational frame currently and historically is important for contrasting the movements, progression and achievements of women that have been made by historical and modern feminist (Ross 8). It tends to show a progression in development towards gender equality. It also aimed at showing the feminist paradigms and the corresponding activist movement of the moment (Ross 8).

Globalization and neoliberal politics manifest in feminism in the modern and historical theories in the manner that they contribute to the effective economy of women and leadership in political processes as well as cultural growth (Smith 324 ). In both historical and modern theories, the focus is on how the globalization and neoliberal politics affect women across races and classes and aspect of leadesrhip for women on the ground of competiveness, and gender(Smith 325).

Although transnational feminism has advocated for a better place for women in the society, it has not addressed local issues of inequality (Smith 321). To date there are still traditional feminist demands for gender equality based on development and marginalization discourses. Transnational feminism still side-lines other races such as Indians and Africans struggling in oppression (Ross 11).

Thinking about the transnational within the local shift some key questions as it opens up a case for so many differences among the women such as continued marginalization for the women of color, negotiating political memory and lack of intersectionality (Smith 323). The aspect of class differences is the dominant problem that feminists face as it tends to divide them along their local perspective.
