Globalization
Globalization is a term used to describe how people, businesses and countries around the world interact with each other and exchange goods, services and ideas for personal or professional purposes. From an economic point of view, globalization is all about providing opportunities for business growth and it helps improve the quality of life. It sometimes leads to challenges of welfare of employees, the environment and economies; the other times, globalization is considered an excellent and effective way to stay connected with people and businesses across the globe (Pettifor 28). With the passage of time, globalization has grown due to advancements in transportation and communication technology. People and businesses are now able to exchange ideas, goods, and services through different mediums, and this gives rise to the liberalization of markets where economic activities take place.
Globalization Has Drawn the World Closer Together Since the 1500s
Since the 1500s, globalization has brought people together. Previous, there was no system of interacting with people living abroad and brands found it challenging to sell their products and services. In addition, it was next to impossible for companies to target new customers from across the globe, and thus, the economies of countries were never strengthened. According to Sonali Perera, globalization has made it easy for companies to target new clients in all parts of the world. It stemmed from inter-dependence and began as barter between people, subsequently between cities and countries. India, Africa, the United States, and Bangladesh used to exchange goods, and globalization was at its basic level centuries ago (Perera 21). With time, new trends were introduced, and latest technologies and techniques came into being, which made it possible for the world to sell and buy equipment, tools, food items and clothes, contributing to the economic growth and sustainability of states.
Through a long process of globalization that spans centuries, the United States, Bangladesh, India, and other countries have now become sustainable and globalized in terms of cuisines, economy, information technology, entertainment, religion or fashion. It’s safe to say that globalization has brought the world closer in a lot of ways. First of all, people can now sell their products and services through social media platforms, targeting local and international markets and earning a living easily. Secondly, companies and brands can exchange ideas through different platforms and can improve the quality of their products in order to expand their networks and to generate more and more revenues.
