Revolutionary War
Women in America have had an interesting development over the years. Before the revolutionary war, most of the women roles were associated with taking care of the families. As such, they were largely housewives and thus concentrated on the house chores such as cooking, cleaning and taking care of their husbands’ properties (Hist 2111 Screencast 7 The American Revolution 1775 to 1783, 2016). During the war however, there were some changes where women took on the customary roles and further got involved in some support roles. The main roles during the war as such included cooking, nursing, spying, working as maids, seamstresses and some even joined the forces to become soldiers. After the war, some of the women took on managerial roles in various leadership and professional positions other than the customary roles(Hist 2111 Screencast 7 The American Revolution 1775 to 1783, 2016).
