There are several attributes that one ought to exhibit to be called an ideal leader. Normally the qualities are positive and require strong, skilled people to implement them. In his masterpiece, Machiavelli's provides wise but controversial qualities of a good leader. Those qualities seem to be out of the normal, but they are certainly very effective.
There are several qualities that Machiavelli emphasizes on. One of these qualities is three ends. According to Machiavelli (2016), a leader should have three ends, and that includes gaining the power to retain it and to extend it. He urges leaders to use anything to attain those three ends, he elaborates this using an analogy of a lion's bravery and strength and also the slyness of a fox since the courage of a lion would not be enough to escape traps set by his enemies.
He encourages rulers to embrace the art of deception, supporting this with the state of political condition in Italy where the corrupt Politicians felt safe, and the good Politicians had no chance to compete with them, he, therefore, urges leaders to develop this art to win in the game of politics.
