Life History of William Shakespeare
The Folger Shakespeare Library houses the world’s largest collection of William Shakespeare’s materials (Folger Shakespeare Library). Thus, forming one of the world’s best literature libraries, based on the ground that Shakespeare was and remains to be the world’s greatest playwright. The exact birthday of this famous writer is unknown; however, he was born in Stratford. He was a son of M. Arden Shakespeare and John Shakespeare, who was a politician and glove maker (Shakespeare, IV). He studied classical literature at the Stratford Grammar School. The institution taught in Greek and Latin. Shakespeare did not proceed to the university. Instead, he married Anne Hathaway. Soon after the marriage, they were blessed with their first born Susanna and later had twins, Judith and Hamnet. In 1592 he moved to London, where he was involved in theater performances (Shakespeare, IV). He kept providing for his family though he had left it at Stratford.
While in London, Shakespeare built his career as a dramatist and an actor. His work such as ‘The Tragedy of Richard the Third’ and ‘Henry the Sixty’ made him popular; henceforth, encouraging him to proceed with his career as a dramatist (Shakespeare, V). The 1593 plague led to the closure of all theaters in London. However, during the spell Shakespeare shifted to narrative poetry; he produced ‘the Rape of Lucrece’ and ‘Venus and Adonis’. The following year, in 1594 the theaters revived. Shakespeare partnered with the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, a theater firm. The group shortly became successful.
