Symbols and elements have always been part of graphic techniques. There are floral, artsy, flat, minimalist, and many other designs. These techniques have formed the current understanding of logo making.
During the 1800s, the earliest logos only looked like evident marks to indicate the product’s manufacturer and this time was called the “Logo Habilis.” Between 1800s to 1900s, the time of the “Logo Erectus” arrived and the complexities of the logos with shapes and sizes started to appear. This was the Victorian era where brands were more established by business owners. The modern logo’s ancestor started in 1900 up to 1930 where corporate identities were shown through their logos for the 1st time ever; this period was appropriately called “Logo Antecessor.”
The 1930s to the 1980s demonstrated strong ideas and brand carving was becoming popular. It was also a moment in history when Milton Glaser and Alan Fletcher were the 1st ones to revolutionize logo design and classic principles were developed that designers of today still use.
