The writing of Genesis is considered to have occurred much later after the Gilgamesh flood. In both Genesis and Gilgamesh, it is considered that something angered God and prompted his actions (Smith, pp.32). In Gilgamesh 12, the uproar of mankind was viewed as intolerable, an aspect that made sleep impossible for the reasons of the Babel that was considered as illogical. This is attributed to God's reason for destroying mankind since they made so much noise. However, in Genesis, the primary acceptable reasons for God's actions were directed towards eliminating mankind as a result of evil and wickedness. Genesis 6:6 details God's creation of man who later grieved his heart. In Genesis 6:7, God attests to his intention of destroying man whom he created from the earth's face (Smith, pp.35). God's intent was to overcome man's evil an aspect that establishes God's logical decision and thought in the execution of this plan aimed at destroying humanity, with this differing from the Gilgamesh.
