Summary of the Book “Farewell to Manzanar” by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston
The narrator of the story Jeanne Wakatsuki lives with their fisherman father at Terminal Island near California. Due to the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941, their father was arrested and later the narrator and their family were imprisoned at Manzanar which was an internment camp.
At the camp, there are poor living conditions. The food that is prepared at the camp is of poor quality, and the barracks are unfinished therefore they have a lot of cracksCITATION Jea72 \p 65 \l 1033 (Jeanne and James 65). There is inadequate clothing, and therefore they feel cold as they are staying at the camp. Due to the poor health conditions at the camp, most of the people fall sick.
