Introduced in South Africa in the year 1948, apartheid was a concept that was designed to bring about separation development along the racial lines. Ironically, this is a concept that on paper appeared to be calling for equal development as well as the freedom for cultural expression (Friedman, Julian). Through the governance of the Afrikaner Nationalist Party, apartheid became systemized in that, there were even laws that allowed for the segregation along the racial lines. However it is crucial to note that, there had been several racially motivated developments that motivated the changes that came with ANP (Friedman, Julian).
