In the article, the author provides evidence to support his thesis of the various interactions between the aboriginal, French and the British in Nova Scotia. Negotiation sites and conferences were made to allow for each of the parties to speak out about the disappointments that they had with one another. This was a great way of ensuring peaceful interactions since it prevented the parties from going into war. There were various jurisdictional problems where Nova Scotia’s and Massachusetts’s governors believed that Penobscot was under their jurisdiction. In 1726, treaties were made to prohibit the British empire from expanding into the Penobscot region and if they adhered to the limits, then the natives would welcome Dunbar as their friend. This, among other examples, have proved the authors argument about the interactions which took place in Nova Scotia. He also points out the role played by religion to create peace.
