Superhero-Myth Mash up Story
It was a bright morning, no different than the previous one as the titan Epimetheus took his normal 15-minute wander around his castle. The man had everything a mere mortal could ask for. He had servants, he was a wealthy individual, and it felt as if he had life beaten. Other men wanted to be him and have what he had, but they all fell short. Aside from his wealth, Epimetheus was also a handsome man, and one could not be mistaken if they said he was cut out of perfection. However, even though Epimetheus presented himself as confident and full of life, deep down, he was sad and lonely. No one knew he found himself wanting in many ways. Every night, he would retire to his chambers and weep till morning came. His life was not as great as other men imagined.
In all his greatness and splendor, Epimetheus was lonely. He sought for something that would fill the void he felt in his heart, but nothing on the earth could. His maker, Zeus, was also a troubled man because having made Epimetheus a wonder, he was unsure of what to do to help fill the void this great man had. One day, Zeus decided to make Epimetheus a helper, a person who would help Epimetheus fight the boredom and loneliness he harbored.
Her name was Pandora. Her beauty was astonishing to both men and deity. She was endowed with eyes that were as bright as the sun. Her smile was contagious, and she filled every room she went into with life. Zeus had indeed made a helper that would fill the void in Epimetheus’s heart.
One day, Zeus asked Hermes, one of his many assistants, to deliver Pandora to Epimetheus. However, there was, but one small twist in the gift Zeus had prepared for Epimetheus. Pandora was not to come free but had to be delivered with a box. This was a mystery box, and Epimetheus was not supposed to open it as a sign of worship to Zeus. Everything was going to plan until Kate, another assistant to Zeus, learned about the plan. Kate was beautiful as well, and like all Zeus’s assistants, she had a gift. Everything she painted came to life, and even though Zeus never likes to give her credit, the earth could not be as it is without her painting skills. She had breathed life into the world.
However, having learned of Zeus’s plan, Kate decided to interfere. She stole the box and painted a replica. In the act of obedience to Zeus, Hermes did what he asked to do. But, no one had gotten wind of Kate’s actions. So, the box was delivered together with Pandora to Epimetheus.
As was his custom, Epimetheus woke up to take his stroll and admire what he had. However, when he opened the door, he was met with a smile that melted his heart. Beauty that momentarily made him blind and unaware of what was around him. A man who had looked all over the earth for something to satisfy him had in an instant felt sati...
