European's culture merged with native culture in the clothing and fashion sector to produce designs that still depicted various social classes and statuses. Initially, the Mexicans ladies wore skirts and sleeveless blouses. The blouses signified elegance because their design entailed different colors, feathers attached on the front, and flowers or eagles on the back (Mignolo 156). Men's clothing signified occupation and social ground. The men dressed in suits made for warriors and feathers, together with a long cloak (Mignolo 156).
Spaniards introduced their wool which produced shorter wavier fibers, making a difference between its yarns and those used by the natives. The native weavers combined both yarns when weaving to produce double-side finished ends that made the inside and outside of the clothes uniform and retained elegance in the attires (Mignolo 157).
