Wikipedia is an important online library with a diverse collection of topics that makes its use interesting and imperative. The site contains millions of articles that explain certain aspects exquisitely, making it very important to refer to for more information. For many, it provides quick answers to difficult and common questions including historical facts. Although its use is not recommended in academic cycles, it helps in refreshing one’s knowledge concerning certain aspects and topics that are interesting to read. Most of the articles contain comprehensive research with reliable references, making them have in-depth information for the general reader. This study takes a look at one search item in Wikipedia, analyzes it and presents a concise analysis of its writing.

Wikipedia provides a very comprehensive coverage of the Second World War that ended in 1945. The Second World War is a global war that took place between 1st September 1939 and 2nd September 1945 (Wikipedia.org). It was the most lethal war in the world’s history and led to the death of more than 73 million people. After the war, there emerged two superpowers; the United States and the Soviet Union, whose supremacy battle culminated to the Cold War that lasted for almost 46 years. The main participants of the war were the United States, United Kingdom, the Soviet Union (currently Russia), China, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Australia, and many other European nations.
The main battle grounds were in Europe, Atlantic, Pacific, China, Middle East, South East Asia, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, Mediterranean, Middle East and South America. The result of the war saw the fall of the Japanese Imperial and Italian Empires and the Nazi Germany. The League of Nations was dissolved and there was formation of the United Nations, in which the victorious Allied countries; U.S., UK, China, France, and the Soviet Union became permanent members of the UN Security Council. The end of the war also saw the death of the masterminds of the war; Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
During the war, there emerged two groups that fought alongside each other. The Axis comprised of Germany, Italy and Japan, who intended to annex territories from several countries in order to tap their rich resources, and the Allies who opposed them; made of the U.S.A., UK, France and China. The Germans under the Nazi leadership targeted the Polish territories in order to set up locations for their population and secure oilfields in order to strengthen their economy. Italy wanted to conquer Ethiopia among other countries in Eastern Europe. Japan on the other hand, wanted to control the countries in the South East Asia region in a bid to expand the Japanese imperial empire. The Japanese engaged in a long war with the Chinese, which delayed their quest to control the most of Asia.
The pre-war events included the rearmament and militarization of the Rhine region of Germany by Hitler, which many political analysts at that time saw as an early sign of impending war. Japan increased its military size and aimed at conquering China as the first step to ruling Asia. Germany, Italy, Japan and the Soviet Union had long plans...
