A Haunted House" by Woolf, Virginia: Are the living couple as much in love as the ghostly couple?
Virginia Woolf focuses on a ghost couple who return to their previous house, where a living couple now resides. The woman ghost died first, and then the husband who later came to join his wife in the haunted house, and the ghost couple is in love as they go hand in hand. However, the living couple is also in love but they are static, as they express little emotion to the ghost couple. They are surprised that the ghost couple would be looking for anything in the house. Woolf seems to suggest that if the living couple spent time apart for some time they would rekindle their love like the ghost couple.
