At Zappos, workers were offered three months payments if they resigned. Two hundred and ten of the fifteen hundred employees, which is about fourteen percent, walked off. This ensures that the company is left with the best and most motivated workers. There is no point to having big employee numbers who are not driven or motivated to work towards one’s course and goal. The decision to take or not to take the money is not as simple as one has to consider a lot of factors. You take the money and run, to what? What is the contingency plan? The payoff is attractive but then what?
