The recent outbreaks of different diseases across the country have continued exerting a significant burden on the communities and country. Comprehending how peoples’ behaviors contributes to the emergence and spread of these epidemics would help in influenced the policies and strategies developed by relevant agencies in managing and controlling disease transmission. Additionally, comprehending the influence of behavior on the spread of diseases would also help in improving the control efforts; this is critical because behaviors can influence disease dynamics. This report examines and explains ways through which disease outbreak may be accelerated by individuals’ behaviors and also evaluate methods that may be utilized in tackling and managing disease outbreak.
There are different ways through which peoples’ behaviors can speed-up disease outbreaks. For instance, the rise of misinformation about diseases and protective measures would increase the number of outbreaks in a country. In the United States, the cases of measles outbreak have increased across different areas such as New York City, and this trend has been linked with disinformation and deception where people are provided with wrong information about the disease and vaccinations available (Belluck). Most importantly, the spread of measles in the United States may be linked to negligence and carelessness among the people. This is because, in districts such as Columbia, Kansas, and Idaho, where the measles vaccination rate is below ninety percent, the high number of individuals who do not vaccinate their children are the more educated white people.
