Edouard Manet was born in France in 1832. The paintings of Manet were characterized by simplified details and realism of his day. The main subjects of his paintings were people in caves and scenes of daily lives. Manet also painted religious, mythological, and historians’ themes. The intimate life of Manet was also an inspiration for his painting.
"In the Conservatory, 1887" is one of the most famous paintings to Manet. A conservatory is a greenhouse that is attached to a home. It allows plants to survive winter. Jules Guilemet and his wife's double image is the most significant part of this art because of the sensitivity and the use of delicate nuances off. The couple has engagement rings on their hands. In this painting, Jules Guilemet is rather small because he is bending. He is also brushing against the upper edge of the portrait while the beautiful lady is brushing away. Jules Guilemet is dressed in a black coat and yellow trousers. On the other hand, his wife occupies the large part of the portrait with her extended posture. The beautiful lady who is extravagantly dressed in a yellowish hat and a grey gown is seated on a blue wooden chair holding a yellowish flower at rested back posture. Besides the lady, there is a blue vessel with a green flower with pink flowers. Behind the couple, there are a lot of lush plants that are almost covering them. Although the couple has been separated by the seat, their hands are approaching each other.
The environment and scenery that Edouard Manet painted “In the Conservatory” used varying tones of greens and other colors with aiding hits of blue and pink flowers to give the appearance of soft lights. The rich and fluctuating colors used by Edouard Manet provides the garden with a glowing look. Manet also used different types of trees together to create an actual garden.
