Danston and Galison have given the clear difference of truth to nature and mechanical objectivity using images. In Truth to nature, they argue that an image gives the plain truth but added captions corrupt the truth. According to them the image, however, does not put a story to an end but gives scientists a chance to have an extended argument about the same (Daston and Galison 117)
Mechanical objectivity, on the other hand, is what gives us a critical thought about the image. Danston and Galison argue that photographs always look perfect in giving us the truth, which is not always the case because some truths are hidden.
