Compare and Contrast Between Saudi Arabia and China.
Saudi Arabia and China exhibit two distinct cultural practices due to their differences in beliefs, social grounds and rules. Although, the two groups differ, they may still have some similarities among their different acts and perceptions towards men and women.
Both Arabs and Chinese communities have got the history of gender preferences. The two have always preferred the masculine gender to the feminine gender. This was evident in their liking and favoring of the boy child as compared to the girl child. Since birth, a boy is considered to be more precious and grows up into being a man that believes that the masculine gender is superior to the feminine gender (Hayes, 2008).
The boys have always been given roles and duties that shape them to be leaders, protectors and decision makers while girls are raised to be subject and submissive to men. Population control policy has also cost China such that there are more men than women in population. `The sex ratio at birth (between male and female births) in mainland China reached about 120:100` (Laube, 2003).
