In this society we are, we live in the age whereby the Mass telecommunications media has been the key thing and the most effective one to get the message across whether within the country or outside the country/globally. This Mass telecommunications media has been evolving throughout the years since its invention due to some changes in the technology industry hence making it to be an enormous and important thing in the society by making the information to be available at an incredible rate. The term mass telecommunications media has been defined to be a way of passing a given message which has been created by a person or a group of people through the medium to the larger audience. The mass telecommunications media has created a lot impact to people’s lives and behaviours and all this is caused by the invention of the modern technology (Tourism, 2011). In this essay, we critically discuss how the mass telecommunication and how it has created a lot of impact in the tourism industry and the impact the new micro media technologies such as personal blogs, YouTube, My Space, twitter, Facebook and many more pose to the tourism industry.
The tourism industry is known to be an export industry which has the potential of increasing the demands for goods and services in a given country or community. Telecommunication media plays an important role through this by presenting the right image of the socio-political conditions of a nation. Most of the governments of the day of most countries expect that the media industry should be able to promote the tourism sector to help bring some investments or benefits to the country. With these expectations from the government, the tourists also expect the media to provide for them the right image of those scenes or scenarios that are of their interest (Egyankosh, 2011). Not only the scenes or scenarios, but also it should give them a clear understanding of some of the cultures of the nation the tourists are visiting. It is through media that a tourist can share the experienced gained throughout the world when visiting a particular country hence attracting more tourists to that particular country.
